According to the U.S. Coast Guard, 69-year-old Robert Jackson, Jr., and his 45-foot sailing boat, the "Sun Song," were found safe nine miles south of Mobile Sunday morning. Jackson was reported missing in Miami, Florida, by his family after he had not been heard from since March 1. Family members say Jackson, an experienced sailor, departed from St. Augustine, Florida, on February 25 and was en route to his new home in Slidell, Louisiana. The Coast Guard says Jackson was last seen near the Cape Florida Light, off Miami on March 3 when his boat ran aground.

The Coast Guard found Jackson around 10 Sunday morning. The Coast Guard says Jackson told them he had lost his cell phone in Key West, Florida, and was unable to contact his family and let them know he was safe. Jackson also lost generator power and use of his radio and was completely unaware that anyone was looking for him.

It’s pretty easy to be “lost” if you really don’t want to be found.

He wasn’t lost just his family was.

Again, a $600 EPIRB would have found him much faster.
