GRAND BAY, Alabama - The search is over for a missing man with Alzheimer's Disease.76 year old Nelson Robinson of Grand Bay was found in the woods near his home shortly before 8:00 Thursday night.
He had been wandering for more than 14 hours after disappearing from the house Thursday morning.
Robinson was found only about 200 yards away from a staging area set up by authorities in Grand Bay.
Robinson's son, Lorenzo Robinson, said, "All we can do is thank the good Lord, and these people (the rescue crews). He looked kind of cold and shivering, but he recognized me, that's a good thing. He recognized his other daughters."
A family friend, Arthur Hayes, said Nelson Robinson "looked well under the circumstances. Exhausted, you know, after being out there all those hours, but he was pretty strong."
Lorenzo Robinson said his father was found with his pet dog at his side.
He said the dog is his father's loyal companion, but that the dog had come home earlier in the day Thursday for a while.
Lorenzo Robinson said, "The same little dog came home, and we saw him and he left back out running, but we couldn't find him. The dog lost him. The dog went back where he was, because they said the dog was still with him."
Robinson was taken to Mobile Infirmary West.
