I can not find one sane reason to not let some one of the family know where they might get in touch in case of an emergency and common decency would dictate to let family know the kids were alright. In my opinion this was a bad move by the father and doesn’t show a healthy thinking process or either it’s a lack of thinking.Either way it doesn’t seem to indicate a rosy life for the kids.If this father wanted to go find himself and take his kids along he could have let some of the family know so the Hue and cry could have been prevented.Probably be like the little boy who cried wolf if there’s a next time and probably makes the police a little hesitant about missing persons cases.

I’m curious to know what happened in this “missing persons case” that caused this mans family and friends so much grief as well as the tax dollars we paid for the manpower to investigate it.

WHOA! The law also says children can be homeschooled in the state of Ala.  Secondly, this man has evidently raised these children on his own with the help of his parents.  It was certainly not a kind thing to do not letting his parents know where he was.  However, legally he does not have to answer to his parents.  Don’t know what the custody arrangements are with his ex, but I don’t remember reading that she was upset by this “disappearance”.  It seems the public goes off the deep end over things like this when the man has not been charged with anything, yet grizzly murders hardly raise an eyebrow anymore.  I doubt this man homeschooled his children, but lets at least give him the benefit of a good reason until proven otherwise.  I am sure this will raise some comments from certain individuals.  Have at it!

I am not jumping to “punishment”, I am just stating the law.  Hopefully he has a good reason, but that does not excuse the children from school.  The law states children between the ages of 7 and 17 MUST be enrolled in school.  If they were enrolled in school, it is the legal guardians responsibily to make sure they attend. I hope things work out for him and his chidlren!

I went to school with the mother and father of these children. If mike kept his kids out of school I am sure it was a good reason he has raised these kids alone for about 12 years! So before jumping to punishments we should get all the facts. All i can say is thank god for private schools.

It is against the law to hold children out of school! I am an attendance clerk for MCPSS and at the very least, he should/will be referred to EWTP, which is the Early Warning Truancy Program.  He may face fines and possible jail time for holding these two out of school.  He may already have been referred to EWTP and if he failed to appear for that, he will be served with legal notice and it could get very costly for him in more ways than one.

Strange story.

I believe a through investigation of his mental health is called for now, just for the safety of the kids and family.Just how much school did these kids miss ? Stunts like this is why there is such delays in missing persons cases.BOOK HIM DANNO!

I am sooo glad hese boys are back home safe!!
