Around this household, Wallace Gomez was known simply by his last name. “He's in my heart, a part of my life, so you can never forget him,” says friend Ethel Cotton. She’s one of many people around Hobson Alabama who befriended Gomez over the years. Gomez, along with his brother Beuford, friend Jeffrey Camardelle and a fourth man were killed last night in a robbery outside New Orleans. Gomez and his brother owned the bar. They would come to Alabama to take a break. “It's quiet to them and no hustle and bustle and they just done what they wanted to like hunt, fish, whatever,” says Zoe Anderson. Neighbors say the Gomez brothers were loved up here and had no enemies. Everyone looked forward to a visit. Gomez built a two story shack for hunting and relaxing nearly 20 years ago. Now it stands in memory to him. His friends want to make sure those suspects are brought to justice
“I hope they're caught and punished to the fullest extent,” says Ethel Cotton. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office says five men attempted to rob the bar Thursday. Two are in custody, one’s recovering from injuries sustained in the incident and two more are still at large.
