The Mobile Police Department has unveiled a memorial to an officer killed in the line of duty earlier this year.
A mural featuring pictures of Officer Brandon Sigler now hangs on the wall of the First Precinct Roll Call Room.
Sigler was shot and killed June 2 at a west Mobile apartment complex trying to break up a fight.
Among those on hand for the unveiling Thursday afternoon were Sigler's mother and his fiancee, Lakenda Craig.
Sigler and Craig were going to be married September 6.
When asked what it has been like dealing with Sigler's death, Craig said, "Of course, its been very difficult, but you know my faith is in God."
Officer Sigler's mother, Nina Gordon, remembers the first thing she did when she heard the news about her son.
Gordon said, "I just took a few seconds just to pray. I just asked God for strength not knowing what we were facing, but I just asked Him to give me the strength that I needed to get through that and He definitely, definitely, did that."
Sigler's stepfather, Kenneth Gordon, said, "We trust that we will be found faithful to carry a legacy of not trying to figure out in life what we can receive but, like Brandon, what can we give."
Craig added, "He was an awesome man and not only does his family know that, but the community knows that."
And Nina Gordon said, "Everybody knew Brandon from his smile."
Craig said she still wears her engagement ring and won't take it off.
