There could be help on the horizon for Prichard residents who are upset about paying $100 water bills.

Mobile Area Water and Sewer System sent a letter to the Prichard Water Board Monday expressing interest in purchasing the city's financially troubled water department. In the letter, Chairwoman Bess Rich says "We have an interest in securing Prichard's water and wastewater system so rates can be affordable to the customers."

We'll have more on this developing story tonight on News 5 at 10:00, including whether this could mean higher water bills for current MAWSS customers.

Is MAWSS part of the city of Mobile or not? If it is part of Mobile, would they buy the Prichard Water Board with money from the tax payers of Mobile? If they are not part of the city, why is Chairwomen Bess Rich saying ” we have a interest in securing Prichard’s Water and waste system so rates can be affordable to the customers. Is Bess with Mobile or Prichard? Also, how will the lawsuit play United States of America vs. Mawss? MAWSS can’t handle the current waste. How can they handle Prichard’s? I say; don’t eat the fish or swim in the areas waterways.

The BIG BULLY is getting bigger and Your Rates are gonna be climbing, Shame they are unwilling to trim down on excess’s to be a better neighbor, or provide better rates for our use of their dead water.

Has any type of business ever survived in Prichard??? WHY???
