Matthew O’Bryant Returns Home

Theodore High School Matthew Obryant  A Theodore man killed while serving in the U.S. Navy makes his way back home.

A Mobile County High is honoring one of its own killed while serving in the U.S. Navy. Petty officer Matthew O'Bryant was one of 53 people killed on September 20th during a suicide attack at the Marriott Hotel in Pakistan.

The 22 year old Theodore native was the first American casualty identified in the bombing by the Department of Defense. O'Bryant's loved ones gathered at the Mobile Air Center today where his casket was being flown in. Lawrence O'Bryant, Matthew's older brother says he spent the day remembering the good times the two spent growing up, "I can't even begin to express how much I'm gonna miss him 'cause I keep thinking about all the fun times we had together." While community members spent the day paying tribute to the fallen hero at Theodore High School, where school leaders collected school supplies. "I just thought you know it would be a good thing for the whole community for us to come together help another community and do it in Matthew's honor," Ronnie Rowell, the school's Principal. Theodore High School and Nan Gray Davis Elementary School are going to donate the school supplies along with money to a school in Texas that was devastated by Hurricane Ike. The high school's ROTC program is also planning to dedicate a plaque in Matthew's honor.

You are so right rosepetal.  While I hate to hear of the loss of another your man, I know he died with honor and valor.  May God Bless his family and friends as they go through these next days, weeks and months ahead.

one thing i have noticed about these brave warriors who have given it all for this country is the bravery of the family and the dignity they show at such a great loss. May Gods Grace Surround Them And Comfort Them.
