ATMORE, Alabama - Authorities in Escambia County, Alabama say they have arrested Bruce Day, a man wanted for murder. Day is the man who caused a lockdown at the campus of the University of West Florida in Pensacola Monday. Deputies had gone to the nearby Gulf Power Crist plant to arrest Day for a murder that happened 8 years ago, but he got away. Authorities caught up with him Thursday night in Atmore and took him into custody.
He was taken to the Escambia County, Alabama jail.
Day is a suspect in the 2001 murder of Woodrow "Token" Allen - an attempted murder victim who disappeared just before Day was to go on trial. Investigators have developed new evidence and have charged Day with Allen's murder.
Suspect: “I’m Not A Killer”
