DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Police have charged a 32-year-old Hartfordman with attempted murder for allegedly trying to run over a police
officer during a pursuit.
Police said Fred Kenyatta "Lamont" Collins was also charged
with drug possession and was being held on a $230,000 bond. It was
not clear if Collins had a lawyer Thursday.
Collins, who was arrested as part of a narcotics investigation,
was chased Tuesday after he failed to yield to emergency vehicles.
The chase ended when authorities shot out a tire in the vehicle he
was driving.
Officer Thomas Davis said no officers suffered injuries during
the incident. He said they moved out of the way before Collins
could strike them.
