I’d like to see sources on that statistic.

There are more people killed in Mobile than most cities in Irac. Maybe Mobile should be declared a war zone. It’s not the businesses fault, it is the people. Asking to shut down the business because of the shooting is like asking to shut down a bank because it got robbed. If you want to find blame, blame it on the educational system. Lesson #1 is difference between right and wrong.

If you play in gutters, your bound to get covered in sewage. Mobile wants to complain about all the crime but they continue to allow cesspool buisness’ like this one to operate in the community. Get rid of the source and maybe you can elimate some of the crime instead of being so money hungry that more people have to be killed or injured.Thier blood is on the city of Mobile.

curfews? And I’m the crazy one? See things and attitudes change when it affects YOU. One more step in the totalitarian tip toe. Papers please! I do not consent and I waive the benefit of contract thank you very much.

Crime is pretty bad, but let’s put it in perspective.  If you’re not dealing drugs or messing with the wrong folks, I’m pretty sure your odds of getting shot are still pretty low.  Certainly not enough to convert to a lock-down police state.  You do have to be careful and be aware of your surroundings, but let’s not panic here.

I absolutely 100% agree! In the 20 years that I have been a nurse, most in home health-I have gone to the worst areas imaginable in town. Even at night and on the weekend when I had to. Never had a problem. The worst that I ever get is cat calls, whistles, hey babies, and nice wheels remarks. Oh, and I did have a drug dealer approach me once and asked me if “I wanted some.” It took one “look”,and he backed off.lol

I’m not saying “random” crime doesn’t happen, but for the most part,it can be traced back to “known” problems.

Oh my goodness.  Curfews?  That is like something right outta 1984.  In my opinion, government issued curfews are scarier than just about any crime I can imagine.  I’m a serious night owl and I’m always out and about at night.  I can’t even imagine living in a city where Big Brother tells us what time to go to bed.  That’s freaking scary!

Atlantis is an all black club for the most part, and just about everyweekend something happens there. I used to go there years ago when they first opened and it was a fun place to go, but then the blacks took over. So I and just about everyone I know, stays away from there. We prefer the bowling ally now, Cosmic Bowling yaa hoo!!!

Safety of the people should be important to somebody.
Apparently, the only people that care are the victims of crimes.

The article said in part(quote) The curfew does not apply to employees of utilities and telecommunications companies and their contractors engaged in activities necessary to maintain or restore utility and cable communications services or to official emergency management personnel engaged in emergency management activities or to employees of hospitals, doctors’ offices, or other medical facilities. (unquote)

I’m sure that if you work a night job (as I do), that exceptions would be made.

I will not argue with anyone on this. People know that Mobile has a high crime rate and this is one way to combat it. In any event, this was my opinion and does not really carry any weight. The people that should be looking at this are the mayor, the city leaders and the police chief.

Again - just my opinion to try to cut down on the shootings, burglaries, and robberies in this city.

Oh, and how would nurses and doctors get to the hospital for the night shift? What about 24 hour diners? What about my father who works the graveyard at a machine shop?

I think anyone willing to SHOOT OR ROB someone would not think twice about breaking a curfew. So why don’t you just not go out at night? Don’t FORCE me to stay inside. I was out until 3AM…no drugs, alcohol, or crime involved! I was printing large format posters for a graphic design project!

Yeah. A police state would be fantastic. I love not having any rights.
