MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A 28-year-old Montgomery man who pleadedguilty to beating his girlfriend's 15-month-old daughter to death
has been sentenced to life in prison.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Daryl Bailey said Morris Lee
Foxhall was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty Feb. 18 to
murder. Foxhall was arrested Dec. 22, 2004, for beating Makayla
Baptiste at his apartment while the mother was shopping. Court
documents show the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Foxhall said he hit the child with a belt, but a 2007 indictment
indicated he also hit the victim with his hands and possibly fists.
Previous reports indicate that Foxhall beat the infant because
she would not stop crying.
