MOBILE, Alabama - Mobile police have arrested a man they say set a house on fire with five children inside.

Mobile Fire-Rescue got the call at 12:24 a.m. When they arrived seven minutes later, firefighters reported a small fire in the yard of the home at 1250 Brussells Street which they quickly extinguished.

Fire investigators found evidence of several small fires inside the house that had been put out before they arrived. They believe 22-year-old Ronald Lucky, who suffers from a mental illness, set some clothes on fire as well as a trash can that was on the front porch and had been kicked into the yard.

Damage was minor and estimated at approximately $1,500. Lucky was taken to Mobile County Metro Jail and charged with arson.

Investigators say Lucky lives at the home with one of his parents. No injuries were reported.

“Somebody call 911-shorty got the fire burning….”

Dude, wrong interpretation of the song. It’s about dancing, not burning your house down.

You are just smokin’ with those play on words here lately, aren’t ccm?lol

He doesn’t seem too lucky to me but he does look special

posted from my iPhone

Sigh….I’m sure there will. Poor pitiful man. It WAS his clothes and his house after all, right? So why did those police have to interfere? Not like he was burning down a Dollar General, ya know????

you’re right RM, I didn’t think before writing.

I’m just glad he didn’t lock himself in the bathroom while fighting the devil with fire instead of poop.

At least, he went to jail peacefully so the police would not have to “use excessive violence” to bring him in.

You know, of course, there will be some to complain about this poor man being put in jail by the evil police.

Sheltiedad….I am surprised that you don’t know by now that the mentally challenged people do not require supervision. That would take away their right to be independent, now wouldn’t it? I guess besides being thankful that the children weren’t harmed, we should be thankful that he didn’t fight with LE. By golly, that would have just stung if he’d been tased!

Thankfully, this arsonist is behind bars with no bail set as of 2:00pm, charged with first degree arson.

5 small children in the home and this “man” gets mad at his clothes and sets them on fire as well a several more fires throughout the house.

Why was this “mentally-challenged” man roaming the house with matches after midnight?  Was he alone in the house with 5 small children?

Was he born with mental problems or did he fry his brain on drugs as a teenager?  Has treatment been sought, or is he under a doctor’s care?

With 5 small children in the house, this could have been a tragedy.  Thankfully no one was hurt and Mr. Lucky was arrested and put in jail.

Hopefully now he will be able to receive approprate mental care, at taxpayer expense of course.
