SARALAND, Alabama - Police say a Saraland soldier, found dead at his home on October 21, was killed by his son-in-law.

31-year-old John Pope, Jr. is being held on a $1 million dollar bond in the Baldwin County Jail for a probation violation. He will be charged with murder in Mobile.

Police will not release any other information about the murder, including cause of death. But we do know police found Pope's father-in-law, 57-year-old Anthony Embley, Sr., dead in his home on Williams Avenue.

Embley was an active member of the Army National Guard. Police were asked to check on him when an army captain found Embley's car abandoned at the Sahara Club, a nightclub on Schillinger Road in Semmes.
