MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A statewide poll of Alabama adults found a
majority supporting gambling if it generates money for schools.
The survey by the Press-Register and the University of South
Alabama Polling Group showed 36 percent supporting gambling that
benefits education and 19 percent supporting gambling regardless of
the purpose. That total of 55 percent compared to 44 percent who
were opposed. The remaining 1 percent did not know.
The director of the USA Polling Group, Keith Nicholls, says the
survey numbers indicate no consensus has formed about gambling in
Alabama.
The random telephone poll was conducted Jan. 12-14 with 430
adults statewide. It had a sampling error margin of 5 percentage
points.

AMEN justice!  Welfare aught to be a thing of the past and people would then get out and work there not going to starve… schools what is Fl problem and they have a lottery? and they are having money problems in there schools? Gambling is not the answer they need more compenant people at barton academy.

KX,

My parents taught me to work for what I get.  There are too many people on disability, welfare and foodstamps that are capable of working.  They will tell you themselves, “Let the government take care of me and my children”.

That’s all I said.

BamaBob,

Amen

This isn’t what you said at first, and since it won’t let me respond on PM:

I agree. People on welfare shouldn’t be allowed to gamble, shop at “adult novelty” stores, buy name brand clothes, HAVE CHILDREN, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or have any fun.

Unfortunately, this is NOT Cuba, and they have rights just like everyone else. :( If you don’t like it, you can quit your job, quit paying taxes, pop out a buncha kids and live the High Life with them!

Ha! No joke, BamaBob!

Seems like info on a shooting/robbery/violent crime is posted weekly!

Not to mention, there was a drive-by shooting in my neighborhood Sunday morning, and it didn’t even make the news!

I would like to see a state lottery and the mega lottery, but not sure about casinos.  There is a lot that comes along with casinos that I don’t think I would like.  But, since everyone is already robbin’, rapin’, and murderin’ people in Mobile County every day, just how much worse could it be…...

KX,
I think you misunderstood what I said.  It’s fine for those who can afford it, but those who can’t need to stay away.

Justice, I’m guessing you’re for banning nice clothes, cars, alcohol, working long hours, and trips out of town…with irresponsible parenting, all of these things take away from children!

“But most people I hear of that go, don’t even come out a winner and if they do, it is only enough to get them addicted to it.”

Most people I hear of with guns kill people. Does that mean every gun owner is a murderer? Maybe you have a bunch of loser friends that don’t take care of their children and gamble instead? I know people who have gone over with $20 and come back with $500, I know people who have gone over with $100 and come back with $10,000. I’ve gone over there with $2 (penny slots!), and came back with memories of a good time!

justice, also I agree w/ ya.

justice, i tried to reply but i can only receive messages. everytime i respond to a message it say the name is invalid. this isn’t the first time it has done it to me.

it’s ok i don’t care! smile
