FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The military said Wednesday that investigators are looking into a wreck that killed three soldiers and injured two others over the weekend.The wreck happened 10:25 p.m. Sunday, Fort Bragg said in a statement, but other details of the crash weren’t released.
The Army identified the dead as Pfc. Shelly Monique Brown, 19, of Jackson, Miss.; Pfc. Desmond Morrisette, 19, of Loxley, Ala.; and Pfc. Alexander Llewelyn Thomas, 18, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The two injured soldiers were Spc. Kern Kevon Barrow, 24, of Tobago and Pfc. Tashara Nicole Bell, 19, of Chesapeake, Va.
The soldiers involved in the accident were members of the 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. The unit is equipped with Patriot missiles and was moved to Fort Bragg from Fort Bliss, Texas.
Brown, Morrisette and Thomas were assigned to supply and logistics duty in Company E, 1st Battalion. Barrow was a personnel specialist in the headquarters company of 1st Battalion and Bell was a logistics specialist in Company E.
A private memorial service is scheduled Thursday at Fort Bragg’s Faith Community Chapel.
“We are grateful to the brigade, the installation, and the Fayetteville community for their outreach,” said Lt. Col. Michael F. Tronolone Jr., commander of the 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. “We ask for prayers for the family members who suffered losses and for our soldiers involved.”
