A loud noise near Downtown Mobile in the early morning hours Monday had some people calling the News 5 Newsroom.The calls came in just after midnight.
A few minutes later, Mobile Fire and Rescue crews were called to Gulf Coast Asphalt on Blakely Island. A dispatcher said the noise was described as a loud rumbling, like thunder.
Mobile Fire and Rescue spokesperson Steve Huffman says when crews arrived, they found an asphalt tank smoldering. A plant supervisor arrived a short time later and said everything was under control.
No injuries have been reported from the incident.
