Carl, Trust me, NONE OF THE WOMEN in my precinct could have read my ID and matched it nor could they have heard my explanation for why I don’t have an ID that matches the name on my voter registration.
Let’s encourage YOUNG People with good eyes and ears to get involved.
It’s not to discourage voters Southfan1981.It’s to see those that seek to vote for someone else is stopped and those not eligible and at the same time clear up some backlog of outstanding warrants. Not in this election so far, but I have heard of people voting for people in jail and prison, kin or friends that had their IDs while they were jailed.I believe the voting privilege carries with it some responsibilities to the community also and one of them I believe is not to be on the lam from the cops.As I’ve said they do it on road blocks, and it doesn’t seem to deter the law abiding from driving.I believe it’s coming whether we want it or not.The method we have now for voter identification is archaic and doesn’t work to good. The elderly woman today that took my ID could hardly see my name, bless her heart.I bet I could have given the ID of Osama Bin Laden and dressed like him and still walked in and voted. It’s just something that can be done and helps everyone in the long run.
I got to the Daphne Civic Center a little after 9am. Yes there were plenty of people but I got my form, voted and left in about 10 min. Pretty well organized I would say.
Carl, stop it. We need to encourage people to vote. Why on earth would you want to scare people off from showing at the polls?
I would really like to see it more computerized on the identification of voters.I eventually had to show the lady my name after she passed over it two or three times and she had my license to go by.If we had it computerized then they could check automatically to see if there is any warrants out standing for the person voting. They do it in road blocks so we might as well carry it a step further. If they’re eligible to vote let them vote and then cart them off to jail.
We really really need younger people in the polling places. I kept running into folks who can’t hear. YIKES!
I voted at Jon Archer bldg on Schillenger at 11:10 and there was no line.
Hmmm … what could Karl Rove be up to? Bush’s Brain predicts an Obama blowout today. His electoral map projects 338 total electoral votes for Obama, including victories in Florida, Nevada, and Ohio. He predicts that North Dakota, North Carolina, Indiana, and Missouri all remain red, but with margins of one or less percent. According to standard Democratic logic, Rove’s always up to something sinister, but this is actually a reasonable projection.
i think a lot of people have learned what not voting feels like…and they dont like it.
i would like to see early voting everywhere…make sure anyone who can vote and wants to is able
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
