The bad economy and the sweltering heat are making it even more difficult for a local non-profit group to help those in need. The Executive Director of Mobile Community Action, an agency that helps low-income families with things like their utility bills says twice as many people are asking for help as compared to a year ago, "our phone time response is a very sensitive issue now because the increase in request for assistance," said Executive Director, Jimmy Knight. Knight says they're doing the best they can and he asks people to be patient. M.C.A. is in need of volunteers, if you would like to help call 251-457-5700.

I’ve skipped meals to get the bills paid.

maybe Fred will share some of his moon pie,Obama surely isn’t helping.

Probably were a lot of these people voting for Sam Jones’ and the Mobile city leaders’ pet projects and the annexations. Why isn’t the city supporting these organizations that help the needy? The help has to be by money and other services, but mostly money. Maybe the people that rule the city of Mobile can cancel a few of their taxpayer-financed trips and park-building so that money can be given to every organization that exists to help and feed the needy. It sure would help to show the doubtful that the city might actually care about the people that live in and around it.  Remember - actions speak louder than words - and everyone knows that those in politics have plenty of words to say.
