Lightning Hits Alabama Power Substation

Alabama Mobile  Alabama Power spokesman Bernie Fogarty tells News 5 lightning hit a substation at Ziegler and University. At one time 4000 customers were without power.

Power was restored to most of the 4,000 customers by 8:15 p.m.

7:05 p.m.
Thousands of Alabama Power customers are felling the summer heat tonight.

Spokesman Bernie Fogarty tells News 5 lightning hit a substation at Ziegler and University in West Mobile. Four-thousand customers are without power.

Fogarty says crews are working to get all the customers switched to another power grid. He did not have an estimate about how long power would be out.
