A lightning strike could be to blame for 300,000 dollars of damage to a home in Semmes.

Neighbors say they heard a big boom, spotted a bolt of lightning and watched the house burn on Oak Hill Drive. Neighbors pitched in to help volunteer firefighters but the blaze spread too fast.

The Prince family moved in last summer and had lots of antiques inside their brick home. Luckily, they also had insurance.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine if lightning was the cause.
