MOBILE, Alabama - Lightning may be to blame for a house fire in Mobile. The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department worked a two alarm blaze on Rochester Street this morning, 9/6/09. The emergency was called in at about 8:30 in the morning. No one was hurt but there was a lot of damage. A fire rescue spokesman says it appears lighting struck near the home's chimney. That started a blaze gutting the top floor of the house.“The upper floor has extensive fire damage, the lower floor has some smoke damage and some water damage from rain and fighting the fire estimated at $300,000,” says Mobile Fire-Rescue Captain Mack Weaver. Even with all that destruction Mack says the home may not be a total loss. The homeowner was away when the fire started.
