Police say a man tried to break into a lawn and garden store using a lawn mower blade.

The alarm at Dutchman’s Lawn and Garden on Highway 98 in Elberta went off Tuesday evening. When police arrived, they found 20 year old Corey Perry behind the store. Police say he used a lawn mower blade to try and pry open the rear door.

Perry was charged with criminal mischief and transported to the Foley Jail.

Thank you Carl.  And for Jen68, that knows my family well, must know the pain we are going through.  You hope you have raised your kids to know right from wrong.  When they mess up, no matter what age, it is a very upsetting issue. I can only pray and hope this will make him examine his values and have an awakening in his life.
Cease fire. Thank you for all of your opinions.

Well if suepj is his mother then I can well understand her position and say I feel for you. but this should be a wake up call for Corey and if ribbing him about it or making jokes about it makes him remember it longer then it may help keep him on the straight and narrow so he will not be an embarrassment to his family again.

I know the family well too and what a coincidence his mothers name is Sue. Also just so that people know Dutchman’s (the place he was trying to break into) is also a GUN shop.

suepj:  Sorry I’m gonna have to wait until this evening when Dollar General closes so that I can go and break in and get me a broom so that I can clean out my back door.  Seriously, he knows right from wrong and he knew he was wrong breaking into that place for whatever reason.  As far as judging, yes mam/sir, I judge people everyday and I openly admit it.  It is human nature to do so.  No one on this board brought his family into this but you and pooh.  I do not know them and I do not wish this man’s family any ill will but what we all must realize is that sometimes our children do things that embarass us or hurt us or disapoint us, that is what children do sometimes.  But attacking people’s freedom of speech and opinion in the name of this young man is not doing him any good.  That is what is wrong with people today, the criminals have more RIGHTS THAN THE VICTIMS.  I don’t care if he stole a piece of bubble gum or $100,000 from the bank, his still committed a crime.

I am not saying that this young man should not pay for his conseqencies. Yes, he is 20, but everybody makes his own mistakes in life. Are you saying that a person should be put in gallows and throw rotten vegetables at because of a mistake in his life that now he has to make amends for and rise above it and know he has to build his I am just saying don’t throw stones at someone and make cruel jokes at this persons deeds. Unless your life is by the ten commandments, do not judge.  Anyway, where is the other boy that ran and actually watched the “SAW” movie?  Every thing is not always what it seems. Yes, you have the right to your opinion, as I have. I would hope you would have a little more couf instead of making jabbing remarks and taking advantage of someone else’s lapse in character.

That’s what it’s all about here isn’t it, everyones opinion ? Your not doing this young man any favors by looking the other way on his decision to commit a crime. Your entirely right that we should be examples for the young, but this young man is 20 years old,an adult that should be willing to face the results of his actions and the ridicule also and at 20 he has pretty well made up his mind on right and wrong. I don’t think making a joke about a criminal doing a crime such as this is a wrong but everyone is entitled to an opinion. As for making judgements on people, we do it every day, I do it,you do it,we all do it and juries do it. Do we like to associate with this person or not, do we like their actions or words and so on. I agree his family should be left out of it unless there was some contributing factor from the family. This adult was caught breaking into a building not stealing candy from a candy jar. Unless he is mentally ill treat him as an adult.

Don’t be so quick to make judgements until you clean out your own closet! LOL

I know this young man and his family. He is a good person that made a bad decison.  He will have to make amends for it.  I don’t think it is right to make a joke from someone else’s wrong doing. Two wrongs don’t make a right.  We should be examples and not make judgements on other people.

It is ashame that this crime is being reported when there are more serious crimes taking place in the Foley area that never are reported.  This young man did wrong and he will have to pay the price.  He was charged with criminal mischief not murder and his family should not have to suffer the publicity this has brought.  They are suffering enough.

He’s just been watching too many movies ! What was the name of that movie ? Was it SAW ? I know crooks are not suppose to be too smart but he should have taken it off the lawn mower first ! grin
