A local labor union hopes elected officials will hear their protests over ThyssenKrupp's labor practices.

This morning, members of the Mobile-Pensacola Building and Construction Trades Council demonstrated outside of the steel mill.
The group is demanding construction jobs for locals.
On Monday, News Five showed you two workers who admitted to our cameras that they were undocumented, yet still getting hired to build the plant.
Union leader Donnie Adams says it isn't fair to Alabamians looking for construction work.
"It's about the fact that there's 9 percent and plus unemployment in Mobile County and a lot of these guys out here on this line this morning do not have jobs,"Said Adams.
"Works slow you know? And then you look at all these plants that are shutting down around here, where are those people going to work?"Said Ray Gumble, a union member.

Next week, labor leaders plan to meet with Mobile County officials regarding the letters they sent to ThyssenKrupp last month.

WKRG or anyone?  Who are these subcontractors and who owns them?  The State and Feds need to look into these companies to see what other illegal things they are doing. Put them under a magnafineglass in the sun.

If every tax paying citizen really knew what their tax dollars are supporting, NO red blooded American would pay one cent in tax.

Proj-Manager, I like your post. We need not forget on election day. Let’s vote all of them out.

First of all, our elected official need to keep in mind, that it’s just a matter of time till these “Illegal Aliens” will be filling there positions. If and when these issue (and again it’s just a matter of time) starts to affect there positions, they will certainly have a different view point on these’s very critical issues. Elected officials, what do yall think now? As far as the young man the reporter interviewed, he said he has and opportunity to work out of state in Arkansas. “Go young man”. Well welcome to my world. I’m a member of a local Union their in Mobile, and have been for over twenty five years, but I have not worked out of my Union or the Great State of Alabama for over sixteen years. My case & point, our great city put up million’s of our tax dollars, along with the county and state, “WE DO HAVE A VOICE” it’s called election day.
Regards, Project-Manager

That is the problem; we have laws in place but no enforcement to them. I do agree that is a good law because what it takes out of the pool of tax payer to pay for the problem. could you send me some information on the law you are talking about?

We need to get a law in place like Arizona’s on illegals.  If your company hires them, you lose your business license.  Also,  don’t be afraid to report these illegals to INS.

I think the biggest problem is something I have not heard from anyone else. It is always about money and until the citizens get tired and elect good politicians and stop the madness the State will go broke. It is more than just jobs. When you count the amount of tax revenue, Workers comp Insurance not being paid and the good companies rates are going up, Social Security not being paid and short falls and the tax payers are the ones bailing it out, Medicare & medicade short falls tax payers will be burdened with, the use of our schools, roads, hospitals, and public housing which also gets passed down to the good people that do the right thing.
Go to this website to see what has been uncovered in other states and it is going on right here in Alabama also.

Lightning Bolt

We all need, as citizens of Mobile, to vote out the elected officials that allowed ThyssenKrupp’s labor practices. Don’t forget these so call officials also gave our tax money to this German company.

I am not anti union but as long as Alabama has a right to work law there is very little to do.Now the illegal aliens is another story put them on the road ,we do have qualified people to do the work.If it was bid union only would be a different animal.but the bids were open bids.
I have seen many a union worker on nonunion jobs just to feed the family .I had it out with BA’s many a time over union issues and there inability to furnish qualified people. But i would like to see the laws respected and the companies responsible for bringing in Illegals and paying them cash need their chops busted. We have a lot of need in this area for jobs.
