State Treasurer Kay Ivey will be in Mobile Wednesday evening to officially announce her candidacy for Alabama Governor.

Her statewide campaign kickoff will start at the State Capitol in Montgomery and then wrap up at 5:30 p.m. at Oysterella’s Seafood Restaurant on the Causeway.

Ivey will join a crowded field fighting for the Republican nomination that includes Greenville businessman Tim James, former Chief Justice Roy
Moore, former two-year college Chancellor Bradley Byrne, and state Rep. Robert Bentley of Tuscaloosa.

Bill Johnson, the director of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, .says he's getting lots of encouragement to run for governor, but he hasn't made a decision.

The primary is June 2010.
