Sassygrits, its not ALL parents just he ones that have that entitlement and victim attitude and they pass that along to their kids.  Parents need to quit coddling their little darlings and helping them understand life is full of ups and downs and just because you are unhappy or challenged, taking a life is a sin, permanent, and illegal and not the answer to whatever your problems are.  If they continue on this path of being a “thug” they will meet the maker sooner than expected.  If as stated this was a promising young man that makes this even more of a tragedy.

Why is it that our children can’t read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?

I think it has to do with the fact that we as parent’s are not raising our kids to value life as one should. My nieces and nephew’s have grown up on a steady diet of blood and gore…death and a total disregard for human life, through the tv shows and movies they watched…the video games they played… My own kid’s got a hearty dose of it as well, although, I did try to police what they were exposed too, and talked and talked and TALKED to them till I was blue in the face, about such a tragedy as this…the finality of death, and the waste of it all.
God, when is it ever going to stop ?
My heart goes out to this family…and,they are in my prayers…and, lemme tell you something…everyone of you should be saying the same thing,and counting your Blessings… because…there, but by the grace of God….

Greetings to all. I would like everyone to know that the victim was a beautiful young man. He was a joy to have in our family. Markel is my cousin. His time on earth was taken too soon due to the ignorance of another. Why is it that some people feel that they have the right to take someone’s life? I guess some think it’s cool to drive and walk around with guns or maybe they feel it’s ok to put an innocent family through so much pain and suffering. Well, it’s not. We lost someone who could’ve been the next NFL player, future president and/or a graduate from high school. Our family is extremely sadden by the choice that a moronic individual made on this day. A strong black man was taken from us. Please keep our family in your prayers.

This is not the first shooting and killing at the Michael Figures Community Center. I would think that State Senator Vivian Davis Figures would be trying to stop the violence at a community center named after her late husband instead of concentrating on a smoking ban in restaurants and bars. This woman is misguided.
