MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The list of candidates trying to succeedRepublican Bob Riley in the governor's office will grow longer
Wednesday when State Treasurer Kay Ivey kicks off her GOP campaign.
Ivey's communications director, Mark Powell, said she will fly
across the state to make announcements in Montgomery, Birmingham,
Huntsville and Mobile.
Ivey will join a Republican field that already includes
Greenville businessman Tim James, former Chief Justice Roy Moore,
former two-year college Chancellor Bradley Byrne and state Rep.
Robert Bentley of Tuscaloosa. On the Democratic side, U.S. Rep.
Artur Davis and state Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks have
announced.
