“We're breaking down about every five minutes, one of us breaks down, the other has to pick us up,” says Brianna’s mother Sylinda Parish. “We can't believe this happened.” Brianna's mother says the family called their own search team together.
“She was laying unclothed at the bottom of the ditch with a bag over her head,” says Sylinda Parish. Sylinda says the Daphne Police Department should have done more, quicker to find her daughter.
“They should check with every outlet don’t depend on the police to do it, Daphne police are just not equipped for this kind of thing,” says Sylinda. A Daphne police department official says they feel the response was adequate. He says they were operating on the assumption that the victim was hopefully alive further away from the pub. People who live and work near where Brianna disappeared earlier this week are on-guard.
“I've never really been afraid, but yeah I’ll keep the doors locked more and I’ll be a little more vigilant watching,” says Tammy Kilgoar. She owns a salon near the Bay House Pub. Her customer Alice Laubenthal has a daughter around Brianna's age.
“A lot of fear because every time she goes out now I'll worry more than I did before more so now since this happened,” says Alice. More information on an autopsy might be available Monday.
