The City of Fairhope has found someone to replace Police Chief Mike Comalander. He sent a letter of resignation to Mayor Tim Kant a few days ago. News 5 has learned that the city council will meet tonight at 6:00 to name former Bay Minette Police Chief Terry Sanders as the interim chief. Sanders lost his job in Bay Minette back in 2004. The city council did not re-appoint him to the position. News 5 has learned that Sanders is also being considered for the Fairhope position permanently.
As for Fairhope's resigning chief Mike Comalander, he will not be leaving the force. We are told he will return to a job as police captain. News 5's Steve Alexander will be at tonight's meeting. He will have more on on News 5 at 10:00.
