If you wanted to attend the inauguration of President-Elect Obama in Washington and can't, you might be able to take part in the next best thing in Mobile.
A number of inauguration celebrations are taking place next Tuesday.
What's being called "The Ultimate Inaugural Celebration" is being held at the Spot of Tea Restaurant Tuesday morning.
Its organized by a Mobile entertainment company called the Robinson Group.
Angel Ferrell with the Spot of Tea Restaurant said, "The luncheon starts at 10:00 a.m. We're hoping everybody will be seated by 10:45 for the 11:00 inauguration."
Paul Robinson with the Robinson Group said, "We have a video wall here and other supporting high definition televisions to watch the event because a lot of people wanted to collect together and be amongst friends and celebrants and participate in this historical occasion."
The Mobile County Democratic Women are holding an "Obama Grassroots Celebration" Tuesday night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Gulf City Lodge on State Street.
Leevones Dubose with the Mobile County Democratic Women said, "Here back home, we want to celebrate, too and we want our children and our neighbors to know we're excited about what's happening all over the country, not just in Washington DC, but we're celebrating here at home."
