BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Mayfield Dairy Farms has announced it isrecalling containers of its Mayfield Homemade Vanilla Select Ice
Cream because of possible ammonia contamination.
The Birmingham-based company said the voluntary recall is for
1.5-quart containers of the ice cream. Ammonia contamination can
cause headache, nausea, vomiting and irritation of the throat.
The recall includes 14,084 units with a code date of 03/17/10
and plant code of 010176, which can be found on the container lid.
The UPC number is 75243 20148 and is located on the end of the
package.
The affected product was distributed in Alabama, Tennessee,
Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and
Florida.
Mayfield has ceased distribution of the affected product and
consumers who have it should return the package to the place of
purchase for a full refund or exchange.
