Police credit News 5 viewers for helping solve a crime.

According to Foley police, Daniel and Angela Northern broke into a car November 11th in the parking lot of Lambert's Cafe and stole a purse. Several minutes later, Angela was caught on surveillance cameras using a credit card from that purse at Rite Aid and Winn Dixie.

News 5 broadcast the surveillance photos Thursday and viewers called Foley police.

As it turns out, the Northerns were already behind bars when Foley police found them. They were pulled over Monday in Mobile when police say Angela ran a stop sign. The couple was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

News 5 has learned the Foley case is part of a larger crime spree. The Northerns are also accused of breaking into a vehicle in Montgomery.

Sure! Blame it on Bush like a good little small minded liberal! Guess you got your hand out like the rest of em!! Pitiful!

kjundlad: “I am condoning what they did but, I do blame it on Bush!!!”

That’s right. There was no crime, no poverty and no drug addicts before Bush ran the country in the ground. (sarc)

This lady looks like the detective on The First 48….  So does anyone know why they were in Foley in the first place?  I mean it seems to me to be a little stretch to come from Montgomery to Foley to steal a purse just to go to Rite Aid.  Just curious if anyone knew anymore on this story.

At first I thought maybe she has a medical condition and wants to be behind bars in order to get treated for free. She sure doesn’t look like CRACKIE. What a great example to set for your kiddos. No turkey this year chilluns.

I am not sure if you read the story thoroughly, but when they were stopped, they were charged with possession of a controlled subsatnce. That usually indicates a dependency or substance abuse problem. Furthermore, these people weren’t born elderly. They were young once, and may have been criminals in their youth. Young criminals grow to be old criminals…just because they are older or elderly does not mean that they will not commit crimes or become addicted to drugs. Don’t be fooled by appearances.

CORRECTION:I am NOT!!! condoning what they did…oopps..

I am condoning what they did but, I do blame it on Bush!!! Most everyone is at their wits end with the economic status these days. It is not an excuse, I am just saying that this should not shock anyone. People are doing what ever it takes to survive these days. It is sad that these elderly people had to go to the extreme of breaking and entering and then theft of property and illegal use of a credit card. I guess Bush really put people in a bad situation. Shame on them for committing this crime but most would understand if the situation was for food, meds and what not. Hopefully next time they will go to the county resources and ask for help. Sad, sad sad!!

LOL Sirk - that’s funny.  Pretty sad when an elderly couple resorts to this kind of lifestyle.  Hope they don’t have children that they’re setting an example for!

OMG.. Grandma and grandpa involved in the crime spree together.  Unbelieveable!  I guess it was a “till jail doeth us part”.
