Police say 46-year-old Theresa Walsh locked her husband, 67-year-old David Mumford, out of the house Sunday. When he kicked in the door, she sprayed him with pepper spray. But that didn't slow him down. As Walsh ran away, police say Mumford shot her multiple times with a 25-caliber Colt pistol.
The couple's 14-year-old son, who was in the room and saw the shooting, kicked the gun out of his dad's hand. Mumford then started choking his son. His son fought back and got him to stop after hitting Mumford in the head.
Walsh died at the scene. Police say Mumford confessed to the murder during questioning.
The couple's 14-year-old and 12-year-old sons are now in the custody of their older brother.
