For the second time in less than two weeks, a meth lab explodes in Bayou La Batre. This one happened at a mobile home on Railroad Street. Bayou police say someone was cooking the drug and left halfway through the process-- probably because of the smell.
Just before midnight, neighbors say they saw a red flash and heard a boom coming from the trailer. A wall and the front door were blown out. No one was in the house at the time.
To make matters worse, the owner of the trailer was in the process of repossessing it from the tenant. Owner Ron Blackmon says the man living there hasn't paid a note in over a year. "People are always hollering about help em help em, the economy is bad. This is what happens when you help em! That's why you don't get my sympathy. There's still a lot of good people in the world but there's also some bad elements."
No one has been arrested in the Thursday night case. The tenant's father tells us his son is out on a boat and not available to tell his side of the story.
Last week, a surveillance camera at the Bayou Inn and Suites caught another meth explosion on tape! The wall and the window flew about twenty five feet into the parking lot. Three people were arrested for that blast.
