One of the first things you'll see on Pembrocke Avenue is several homemade signs reminding drivers to lay off the gas.

“Acts like a speedway, once they make the turn and come on in here they actually drive pretty fast,” says homeowner Franklin King. Construction crews have been working for the past three weeks replacing sewer lines on McGregor Avenue. It's reopened during peak drive times, but when it is closed, traffic's diverted through this neighborhood.

“We have nice streets, like to get out there with their toys and their bicycles, and get out in the street,” says King. Some homeowners made their own reminders for drivers to slow down. People like Franklin King say it's been moderately successful at keeping the area safe.

“We just hate to see all this heavy traffic and the speeding come through here because there are a goodly number of our neighbors that walk,” says King. MAWSS officials say McGregor may be reopened to traffic during the weekdays after Wednesday. After that, they’ll only close it on the weekend. The project may continue for another month depending on the weather.

While I agree they should slow down….But to say that they like to get on the street with their toys is crazy….Streets are for cars not kids and toys…

slow down, we let our kids play in the street!
