Foley Police Lt. Thurston Bullock is doing whatever it takes to keep his city safe this Christmas. Bullock patrols by car...and on foot...in fact, the entire police department is doubling its efforts the next couple of weeks.
"The economy is so bad right now so people are out committing more crimes," says Bullock. "People are in need of money so crime usually goes up during the holidays, unfortunately."
Officers are patrolling neighborhoods and shopping center and are aggressively enforcing traffic laws.
"We've gotten a lot of positive feedback from businesses and residents in reference to the progress we've made," says Bullock. "They're seeing a lot more of us and knowing we're out there making a difference."
Officers are stepping up patrols in heavily traveled areas like the Tanger Outlet Mall, the downtown shopping area and on Highway 59. Police are also watching for speeders and drunk drivers.
