WEST MOBILE, Alabama - A prominent Mobile businessman is accused of stealing priceless antiques-- including some that once belonged to President John F. Kennedy.

Matt Walker of West Mobile has been charged with 3 counts of receiving stolen property. He could also be charged with burglary.

Sheriff Sam Cochran says his investigators found some of the items in Walker's home on Jeff Hamilton Road. Cochran tells us that the burglaries happened earlier this year in the Spring Hill area and Gulf Shores.

Investigators even recovered some silver serving pieces that President Dwight Eisenhower gave then Senator John F. Kennedy. So far, the items recovered are estimated at 750,000 dollars.

The sheriff says Walker was very familiar with finer antiques. "He dealt in reconstruction and remodeling of older homes and was known to deal in certain types of this stuff. So, he knew the value of it and is under investigation for being involved in the burglaries."

The sheriff tells us that most of the victims know that their precious items have been found and will get them back soon. The case is still under investigation and there could be more arrests.
