The double standard for politicians in the justice system is unacceptable. A man in Semmes was sent to jail for 5 days for having a trashy yard by a Mobile Judge. He we have a former sitting judge that repeatedly took jailed prisoners from the jail and took them on a “date”. Graddick, Kendall, Johnston,Tyson and everyone at Government Plaza had to know this was going on. Current inmate Douglas Hill was set free by Thomas 17 times after being arrested by Herman Thomas. Now he is charged with capital murder. John Tyson knows he will targeted by the black community if he pursues Herman, his political ambitions are more important than upholding the laws. Why else is he dragging his feet? Joe Kulakowski an Attorney is trying to find the facts out about this and he is getting stonewalled by Tyson and his DA office. There could be hundreds of victims come forward and say Thomas had sex with them for leniency.The lawsuits would devastate the city/county and the political incumbents would fall.

It was very troubling at the time they just let him resign.  No one else would have just walked away from charges like that.  All these people watch each other’s backs first and the public last.

Sends out a very bad message, but we will probably see this guy elected to some public office down the road.

you are correct seek, it sends a very unsettling message if they did know about it and swept it under the rug. these incidents date from at least 2004 so if all the sitting judges knew what was gong on this is five years later why wait till now? i wonder why if there is all the evidence he wasnt prosecuted either by the bar or by the district attorney for his crimes? this probably opend a can of worms for all of them down there to face. i hope that it is all just gossip an inuendo, or it will be another case of me believing on something for a long time and then being devasted they were involved in something of this nature. thomas was what i considered to be a bright and rising star, good role model for the community and the black community like regina benjamin, its going to kill another little oart of me to have to admit to myself something i believed in and defended was so so wrong.

Violator, that all makes perfect sense to me. The question is what are the consequences of not holding him accountable, aside from the message it sends to the community. What other criminal acts will he commit? The victims SHOULD sue the city. This man took an oath . . . . and if these things are true, he didn’t uphold it. He SHOULD have to register as a sex offender and our children should be protected. This really makes me lose what little faith I had in our system. Just goes to show you if you have status in this country, you are above the law. If he would have been a factory worker or a teacher, he’d be in jail. I’ve known for a long time many of these city/county’s leaders are corrupt or have been corrupted by those with Mobile Money. Why wouldn’t they be, we enable them by not holding them accountable. This disgusts me….. Maybe if we as a community will get behind these prosecutors and show them that we support them, they’ll have the guts to do what’s right.

The Mobile Police have stopped several cars at check points with young black males driving some of Hermans 11 luxury cars, BMW’s Lexus, Cadillacs, etc. Several witness’s have said that they sold drugs for Herman Thomas, had sex with him in exchange for less harsher jail sentences. Tyson wants thee statue of limitations to run out so he won’t have to damage his reputation with the black supporters by prosecuting Thomas. The elected leaders don’t want this to proceed because if it does then the victims of Thomas will sue the city and county for millions, like the victims of the Catholic Church. This man is a walking cancer. All of the sitting judges know he was molesting these black kids and men. How could this man show his face at city hall with everyone knowing who and what he is? He has no shame. Cowboy Bob Clarke must like to get spanked too. Or is he swapping sex for services with Thomas as well? This whole saga is disgusting and repulsive.

Has anyone bothered to read all about this in the Lagniappe newspaper? There has been a lot of stories about this former judge. He involved in a lot of criminal conduct. There is a ongoing investigation by several agencies about this man. This man has been implicated in drug dealing, child molesting, swapping sex for jail time and probation, etc. This sordid ordeal is disgusting. He has been barred from checking out black men from the jail and now he is using his position as a member of the 100 Black Men Assoc.to pick up black kids in trouble from their homes and schools. This man is a pedophile, a disgrace to the Law profession. Johnston is right by barring this freak show from his court room. Tyson knows if he hammers Herman Thomas too hard he won’t get the Joe Reed led Democratic Causcus endorsement for Attorney Generals race, much like what happen when he went after David Thomas. This guy Thomas is a freakin’ pervert. They are afraid of the lawsuits by the victims when revealed.

its my sincere hope the allegations prove to be false. i dont remember te thing about taking all is piictures down at govt plaza but they would oridnarily do that woudlnt they, he didint actually retire he resigned. anyway hoping they prove to be false.

I thought they cut a deal with the guy and told him to get out or else.  They also made getting every single picture of the guy out of Government Plaza part of the deal.

People have told me this was a much bigger problem than reported.  I guess most of the guys he would check out of metro like they were library books didn’t want to go public.  Can’t hardly blame them for that.
