MOBILE, Alabama - A Citronelle health care worker is accused of stealing from a patient.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said Crystal Reid was arrested after surveillance video found her stealing.
But Reid told News Five she didn't do it.
Sheriff Sam Cochran said the family of an elderly woman Reid was caring for thought Reid was stealing her mother's money.
Cochran said, "They set up video surveillance in the residence, set up some bait money in an area where money had previously been taken from, and observed this woman, this suspect, go in that location, take money and put it upon her person, and then later leave."
When asked about the video, Reid said, "I'm not aware of that. I'm not sure of anything about that. Like I said, I've got an attorney and (I'm going to) try to start looking forward on this to get this resolved."
Cochran also said the department expects to bring two more charges against Reid.
He said, "She subsequently admitted to stealing money there previously, and, at the time of her arrest, a billfold belonging to another person was found in her vehicle, and we later determined that that billfold had been stolen from another residence where she had been by to provide hospice care."
Asked about the billfold, Reid said, "It was found to return to her son, but I was not able to get to her son because of his place of business being closed for Labor Day."
As for the woman deputies allege she stole from, Reid said, "She's precious as she can be, elderly lady. I'm sorry all this goes on right now."
Cochran said while the money stolen amounted to a few hundred dollars, Reid was charged under a state law that makes it a felony for a health worker to steal from people receiving health care in their homes.

How ignorant is it when shown a tape of you stealing red-handed, that you continue to deny you did it.  She must have been living near Prichard too long.

No one is ever guilty of a crime there right?  Safest place in Mobile County.

Haha BB and ccm! You should be VERY afraid of my monster SUV!(Just kidding);)

This is horrible though! I hope whatever agency she worked for is investigating other patients she took care of. These are the kind of folks who have no business taking care of others. Geesh, work a few extra hours or something, DON’T STEAL!!!!

She probably took Obama seriously and was trying to get paid for a little end of life counseling.

I worked at a daycare her kids went to. She seemed nice enough to me. This is awful. I hope it’s not true for her kids sake.

nah, rm takes care of youngsters at the beginning of life, when rm goes down its gonna be for running over a liberal in her suv. whenever i go through there i am REAL careful.

This story would be much more interesting, if this nurse was from Semmes. cool smile

I bet the first thing her lawyer said was to keep quiet and let him do all the talking.

Stealing from your patients is just wrong. Hospice patients have less than 6 months to live… She was caught on camera so it will be REALLY difficult to get out of that one. I hope they prosecute her to the max.
