Has Boeing Seen Northrop’s Hand?

Northrop Grumman Boeing Boeing got to see the pricing information for the previous tanker contest. Are the numbers outdated or did they get an unfair advantage?

MOBILE, Alabama - A week into the new contest and Alabama's tanker team is already crying foul.

After Boeing protested last year's win by Northrop Grumman and EADS, the Air Force reportedly showed Boeing their competitors pricing information.

Leaders at Northrop and Alabama's Congressional Delegation say that's not fair! The military believes that the old pricing information is outdated and inaccurate.

Congressman Jo Bonner has requested Boeing's pricing information. He says that's the only fair thing to do. "If Boeing or the Air Force believes this information is not relevant, then why don't they just show their hand. It would clear up a very an early question but an important question right off the bat."

If the Northrop team wins the 40 billion dollar deal, they would assemble tankers at Mobile's Brookley Field and bring thousands of high paying jobs to the Port City.

A winner is expected to be announced next summer.

Where is your optimism, man? Don’t you know those kinetic cars are the wave of the future? Heck, even the government is behind these teeny tiny cars! What more do you want? A government voucher? Just kidding…

I do agree Brookley is a treasure we are fortunate to have.

Maybe so but I’m not jumping on any bandwagons at this point.
I do hope Mobile gets a company to come in to fill the Brookley site if this contract falls through.
I cant help but to believe that after all of the European trips to air shows and publicity this has brought to Mobile, there surely has to be someone somewhere that would benefit greatly by bringing in a major assembly plant whether it be aircraft or some other massive factory that will be comparable to the possitive impacts like the tanker deal.
We need jobs now and the more this tanker deal gets delayed and contested by the loser, we may do better by moving forward and reopening the market on that sight for someone who knows what they want without government involvement.
I think we should avoid the kinetic energy car scams though. lol
One other thing worth noting, there aren’t that many sights with a massive landing strip, rail and direct port access all in one central location along the Gulf Coast and we’re very fortunate to have one right here in town. JMO
Something great is coming, we just don’t know about it yet.
Brookley is a Jewel.

i will be surprised as well if eads wins the project, on the upside, boeing has always delevered us an exceptional product that has met or exceeded the bid specifications. we are still flying a 60 yeard old product they delivered the 135 in addition to all the 52s. so let the circus begin, but dont go buyng and made in mobile stickers just yet.

I agree that it seems like the cards are in favor of Boeing because of the Obama/Chicago connection but sometimes the underdog comes through as the big winner.
I’m a firm believer that things happen for a reason in life and maybe these wrong doings and favoritisms toward Boeing will help us with the deciding factors when it comes down to the finial moments.
I know it’s going to be close this time, unlike the “blow out” win from the first go around by the true winner (NG/EADS) but we can only hope that the arrogance and childlike behavior by Boeing will give the Gulf Coast that extra little edge it needs to win this massive contract again.
Economically it’s not going to change the face of Seattle if they get it like it will the entire Gulf region and I do believe many members of both political parties realize that.
The life as we know it in Mobile will be forever changed with this contract and I see these published acts of manipulations by the competition as a possible thorn in their sides when the decision time comes.
Save The Gulf Coast and revitalize an entire region by bringing these planes to the City of Mobile.
This is my honest opinion.

I hate to say this but everyone on earth knows Boeing was suppose to win to begin with, now they have another chance and will win this time.

I really hate it for EADS because they are really getting screwed on this one!

Hate to be “chicken little” here, but the real reason for the re-bid was to give Boeing another chance.  This story smells like a tainted start in the re-bid process.  Worse, continued mistakes in the management of the bid process will create further delays in the award.  It just looks like Boeing has too much inside help with the Air Force administrators and Northrop Grumman and EADS is playing against a stacked deck.
