ROBERTSDALE, Alabama - Odds are Specialist Chad Faulk didn't expect a motorcycle procession just for him when he got home.“This is very very wonderful, I'm glad to be home,” says Army Specialist Faulk. Faulk's unit is stationed in north Alabama, more than 200 miles away.
“He deployed with a unit out of Tallassee,” says Chad’s wife Cinnamon. “They got the grand hoo-ha [welcome home ceremony] there but he's not from Tallassee he's from Robertsdale and I just really felt like we needed to give him that good hometown welcome.” Tuesday Cinnamon was told her husband was going to be home this weekend and she contacted the VFW post in Robertsdale for help. Friends and family had only about 5 days to organize this event and they say it says a lot about this community.
“They don't even know this person but it says a lot about their patriotism and that's what this is about, it's about patriotism,” says Cinnamon. Bikers from around the area gathered in Loxley and lead a procession down Highway 59. It ended at the VFW Hall in Robertsdale. Faulk couldn't seem to wipe the smile off his face and the bikers are glad they could show their support.
“He spent a year in Iraq for us the least we could do is spend an hour and show our respect,” says Biker Aaron Daniels. You don't normally see a homecoming celebration for just one soldier, but everyone's happy to see Chad Faulk home.
“This is magnificent, this just shows you how much a man and a woman can love each other,” says Faulk, embracing his wife. Faulk spent a year in Iraq with the rest of his unit.
