The threat of Gustav could soon raise gas prices. Oil prices have been climbing for the 3rd day in a row!Gustav has inched its way into conversations at the gas pump. Roderick Pettway says the storm is bad news no matter where it goes in the Gulf. "If Gustav comes here, the people along the Gulf Coast and anywhere in the storm area are gonna be hit a little harder. We're gonna have to dig in the pockets a little deeper you know."
AAA experts in Alabama say we shouldn't be seeing prices go up yet. However, we watched a Mobile gas clerk switch out a sign from 3.47 to 3.63 in a matter of minutes.
Oil companies have started pulling non-essential personnel from offshore oil and gas platforms. If you recall, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita destroyed 109 oil platforms and five drilling rigs. The Gulf of Mexico is home to more than 4,000 oil and gas installations.
