The dog behind Alabama's tougher animal cruelty law's will celebrate his 15th birthday this weekend in Mobile.Gucci was hanged, beaten and set on fire in 1994. The Chow-husky mix managed to survive, despite the second and third degree burns. In 2000, Governor Don Siegelman signed a bill that makes intentional cruelty to domesticated animals a Class C felony, punishable with up to 10 years in prison.
You can meet Gucci this weekend and help celebrate his birthday Saturday at B&B Pet Stop. The Friends of the Mobile Animal Shelter will be serving birthday cake at Noon.
