Police have upgraded the charges against 19-year-old Spanley Harris to capital murder.

Harris is accused of robbing and killing Karen Tillman Thursday night. The Mobile County Sheriff's Office says Harris was a passenger in Tillman's car and that he shot her while she was driving down Fort Lake Road. Tillman managed to escape and jump into a witnesses car. The witness took Tillman to her house where she died in the front yard.

Deputies found Harris at his grandmother's home in Irvington. Friday morning, a judge denied him bond. Harris was already facing rape and assault charges in a previous case in which he was granted youthful offender status.

He is a confirmed killer now ,lets not worry about him selling any more drugs .Hopefully this will awaken the powers that be letting people out on bail when they are violent. There is plenty of blame to go around and if the judges and whoever else let this person out on bail are not feeling it.Shame on you

just so everyone knows harris was a known drug dealer, they knew each other. the sons know harris.

Yeah it is pretty sad that it has come to that. It is to the point that you have to sleep with one eye open, because the person that is closet to you sometimes can be the most harmful. You can know a person for years and years and they had never shown any sign of violence or bad character then wham they can pull the rug right out from under you. Trust is a hard thing to come by these days. I have had people in my life that I have trusted and known for most of my life and they turned into to the person that I had never seen and would never trust again. However, there are still good people out there and I have some in my life, which I would not trade for the world.

Can’t trust anyone these days.  Never go alone to meet someone you are not very sure about!

I am very sorry for both of your losses. I have been in a very similar situation were the news and media tried to make my aunt look like a drug dealer and not of good character for the DA to make it’s case. You both know in your hearts who she was. This scum bag will meet his maker one day and he will know his true character as well. I know it hurts and it seems like it will never get better, but you both have the power to keep her memory and spirit alive. She is never truly gone and she will always be with you in your heart. You are not alone and I know from my stand point you have the support of me and my family. Both friends and family of both victims are in our prayers.

Karen was not involved with drugs.  She is as beautiful on the inside as the out!!  Knew her over 25 years, our families are relatives.  Her mother is beautiful person as well.  Karen baby of siblings. Can’t believe something this horrible happen to such a beautiful person!  Prayers are with her family. My heart is broken as I Love her dearly.

nope wasnt mixed up in drugs! she had bought some rims for her car from what i gathered went to pay him had just cashed her check from work.. he tried robbing her instead of giving in the piece shot her! i agree to watchknow drop him off in my neighborhood so we can leave him torched hanging from a tree! she was a great woman that raise 4 of my brothers! she was a second mom to me.. pray for her an the family please! an may god punish the one that done this.. his hell has only just started..

This is very sad indeed.  Unfortunately, from what I’ve heard this lady had gotten mixed up with drugs, etc…..No, she didn’t deserve this by any means, but when a person involves themselves in those type of activities nothing good will come out of it.  I hope he gets the death penalty.  Of course, if he does, that’ll be 20+ years that we taxpayers will have to house, feed, clothe, and educate him.  I say drop him back off in the area it happened and turn a blind eye.  I’m sure there’s plenty of folks that would save the taxpayers some money and the judicial system some time.

Minimay, I have never heard of the DA ever saying the victim was asking for it.  I have worked many a rape case and never come across that.  On the contrary, many of the DAs have said that rape victims don’t deserve that no matter what they were doing.

Anyway, back on topic, he won’t get YO again.  I hope he just gets the death penalty, and let that be that.

I don’t care if they have to rewrite all the laws of Alabama it’s time for this to stop and if the Laws of the State do not do it the family of the affected families should get justice your never to young to rape just because your young doesn’t mean you don’t know better. If that was my daughter and i saw him walking the street FREE I would get my JUSTICE damn the law.
