A political advertisement is causing quite a stir in Montgomery. According to Governor Bob Riley, the commercial by the group called the Sweet Home Alabama Coalition is packed with lies. The ad says that the Governor won't let the people vote to decide if they want electronic bingo to be taxed and regulated by the state. The ad also claims that Riley's campaign took some 13 million dollars from the Choctaw Indians in Mississippi to make sure it stays illegal in Alabama.

In a prepared video statement provided to media outlets, Riley says the information couldn't be further from the truth. "I don't think we spent 13 million dollars on the whole campaign but what's interesting is that the group that put this ad up has refused to say who's paying for it. You know, these are the same old lies that were used on our campaign 7 years ago. They weren't true then. They're not true now and they won't be true tomorrow." State lawyers says they will sue any TV station that doesn't pull the ad off the air. WKRG began airing the commercial on Tuesday.

As for as OUR TAX money being spent to stop a commercial about Governor Riley, that is what should be illegal. The Government has wasted enough of OUR money. If OUR Tax money is burning a hole in Governor Riley’s pocket he should give it to Mobile County for repairing Private Dirt Roads. Also we were told that when it comes to Politics that the truth, half truths and flat out lies are legal.
Grand Bay, AL

My grandparents were raised Southern Baptist and to this day attend a Southern Baptist church, but every weekend they go the Biloxi to the Casinos, and every summer they take a trip to Las Vegas. Most, not all Southern Baptist are some of the biggest hypocrits I have ever seen. My grandfather said that he doesnt see why they are against it because he gambles and that doesnt make him any less of a man of god. Everyone has gone east to buy lottery tickets or west to the casinos, the only time I think it is wrong to gamble is if you are not taking care of your priorties first.

And we wonder why Alabama has remained at the top of the list for poorest states in the country.  If we didn’t have the southern baptist to deal with I’m sure we could be in a better economic position.  We have let y’all run the state for long enough, its time to try some new ways for the state to make ends meet.  Welcome to 2009!

It’s not right the TV Stations are being threatened by legal action for running a commercial that is protected by the Constitution’s Freedom Of Speech. If they don’t run it they might be subjected to other legal actions from Sweet Home Alabama Coalition for discrimination which is also protected by the Constitution. It’s very sad when our Governor doesn’t know what our Constitution says. Thanks WKRG for keeping the public informed.

What happened to free speech? The TV Station services are available for the “ALL” the people not just the ones that the “Government” approves. Wouldn’t that be “CENSORED Speech instead of FREEDOM of Speech”? I am very proud of WKRG for standing up for our CONSTITUTION something that some politicians have forgotten. Go Tiffany !!!!

riley what a clown. time for him to go. way past time.

no “executive order” can restrict free speech.

The origional message post, speaking critically of Bob Riley, was removed by executive order of the Governor of Alabama. Any attempt to repost this message will result in civil or criminal prosecution by special prosecutor appointed by the Governor. This is your final warning.

Look at Mr. Governor using state money to try to silence his competition. He is making himself look worse.
