MONTGOMERY – Governor Bob Riley has appointed Jackson attorney Gaines C. McCorquodale to the position of Circuit Judge of the First Judicial Circuit. The First Judicial Circuit covers Clarke, Choctaw, and Washington counties.

“Gaines McCorquondale has the right experience and background that will make him an outstanding judge for the First Judicial Circuit,” said Governor Riley. “I am pleased to appoint him to this very important position.”

Since graduating from the University Of Alabama School Of Law in 1971, McCorquondale has been the Managing Partner of McCorquondale and McCorquondale in Jackson. He served on the Alabama Oil and Gas Board from 1976 until 2008.

“I am honored by Governor Riley’s appointment and I appreciate the confidence that he has shown in me,” said McCorquondale. “My goal will always be to enable the Court system to run smoothly and efficiently, and to ensure that those who have business with the Court know that they will be treated with respect and with fairness.”
