MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley will announce what cuts
the state will have to make to balance the state education budget
due to tax collections falling below appropriations.
The Republican governor's staff said he will hold a 1:30 p.m.
news conference Monday at the Capitol, where he is expected to
announce the size of the budget reduction and how much will be
taken out of a state "rainy day" fund to help ease any spending
cuts.
Riley said recently he was also looking at ways to curb spending
by non-education agencies financed by the state General Fund
budget. He could also make those announcements Monday.

governor riley should have done more to help the small businesses of alabama now its to late. revenues are cut. he put to much effort on airbus.

hey now, i love the abc board. i have had them come in and check things at my store. they have a job to do. when i have problems with kids or turning down someone who has had to much to drink who is wanting to buy more.  the abc board will beat the police dept there if they are open. no way the city council needs to look at their goings on. love our abc board. make sure your cashiers are trained and you got no problems. check those ids. never be afraid to say no.

Abolish the ABC board enforcement. This is a big waste of state funds. All they do is go in businesses and be hateful to employees and customers. These ABC ‘agents’ actually hurt sales tax revenue. The agents drink on the job and are a dangerous with their guns in public. The Mobile City Council is aware of the ABC Agents behavior and would love to see them go.

It isn’t just Mobile that does the inappropriate spending, it is all the cities, and who pays for it ? Our children, and grandchildren.

That multi million dollar building belong to the hard working teacher and state employees that pay retirement into RSA ...not the state of Alabama building….

I tell ya I’m so sick of Alabama and there cutBacks! Yet build us another multi million dollar building downtown, when we have so many old business that could be renovated….Mobile doesnt have there ducks in a row.
