DAPHNE, Alabama - The swine flu vaccine has arrived in the Mobile area. Eastern Shore Urgent Care in Daphne is one of the first places in our area to get doses of the H1N1 vaccine. It has about 400 doses. They’re stocked with about 200 doses of both the kind that is injected into the body and nasal mist forms of the medicine. Organizers say they had a few people coming in to get vaccinated today, 10/17/09. They encourage pregnant women or people who work with young children especially to get a dose.“A lot of people are scared of the vaccine I don't think we've got anything to base that on other than it's relatively new I would recommend if people can get the vaccine to go ahead and do that,” says physician Dr. Mark Sigel. Eastern Shore Urgent Care will continue to offer the vaccine tomorrow from noon to six. There is a $17 fee to administer the vaccine but Medicare and some insurance plans will cover it according to Dr. Sigel.
