It's not easy landing a job these days, that's why some locals are getting creative in the self-promotion department. When the economy started getting bad, Dan McNellage says he was working less and less hours with his previous employer, so, he decided to go out on his own. Now he's promoting his skills on the popular website Craigslist, where he's known as "Dan the Handyman." He says work is still hard to come by, but he is having some luck, "I'm doing just about everything these days from painting to cutting grass which I don't, usually wouldn't go after, but, these days grass is growing, it's got to be cut, so I got to take it," said McNellage. If you're looking for work, an employment specialist we spoke with says be persistent, don't wait for the company to call you after sending your resume, call them or follow up with an email. Send a thank you note after your interview. Stay confident, keep a positive attitude and use caution on the internet. The Better Business Bureau agrees. They say whether you're the job applicant on Craigslist or the one hiring make sure you know who you're dealing with, check them out.
