It was a day of pride in downtown Mobile. Members of Mobile Alabama Pride held a gay pride parade Saturday afternoon. 22 floats rolled downtown around Bienville Square Saturday. Organizers say they normally have more than three thousand people watch the event. They say it's an important day for the gay community in Mobile.
“It's a gathering day, a fun day for our community to get together to show our pride of who we are and let everyone know we're here,” says Mobile Alabama Pride Vice President Bob Brunson. The parade was part of a day long event of food, drinks and live music. They also had special activities in Bienville Square.
