Out of work since April, Shahmirria Colston enjoys free internet access at The Alabama Career Center. "Not everybody has a computer at home. You know everybody is not fortunate like me. So this is an advantage for us to come here and use it for free, and then we have all these people that are employed here to help us as well", says Colston. For people looking for a job without spending money, The Resource Room is the place to be. Pamela Ware is the Director of Marketing for Mobile Works. Ware says the Resource Room offers jobseekers "an opportunity for them to get on the computer, conduct a job search, they can write a resume, print out a resume, they can fax a resume. So, they have a lot of things they can do to communicate with a prospective employer".
Alabama Career Center Counselors offer free advice one on one or in a group setting.
You can take free classes here Tuesdays and Thursdays. Learn how to write a resume', job hunting skills, even learn how to dress for success.
"We're open Monday thru Friday from 8 to 4:30..so we welcome anyone..there's no cost for any of the services", says Ware.
For more information on the Alabama Career Center, you can stop by. It's located in Mobile at 515 Springhill Plaza Court.
